The Inspiration
Our client wanted to create a bespoke ring as a present for his wife, inspired by the Statue of Liberty - one of New York's most iconic landmarks.

Refining Key Elements
We narrowed in on a couple of elements that call back to the inspiration - a band with a wavy texture to represent the folds of her dress and the waves of the New York Harbor where the statue is located, as well as a green source-traced Australian sapphire center stone to match the statue's iconic green oxidized copper.

Finalizing Direction
Once we had decided on the inspiration elements, we created a mood board of textured bands and showed our client a selection of green pear-shaped sapphires to finalize the key elements of the ring. We also suggested a V prong at the tip of the pear to prevent lateral movement and protect against breakage.
The Process
Our CAD designer thought outside the box to use uncommon drafting tools to create band's distinctive wave texture. Our client was having trouble visualizing how it would look once cast because the tools we used are a little tough to render, so we printed out a wax model for him to check. Once he was able to better visualize the texture, he loved the design as-is and it was approved!
