Frequently Asked Questions
1. Do you only work with lab-grown stones?
Hera is known for our expertise in lab-grown diamonds and gemstones. However, if you prefer a mined stone, we’re happy to source one for you through our trusted partners. We also offer antique mined diamonds.
2. What is your timeline, and are rush services available?
Our estimated production time is 8–10 weeks for collection pieces.
Most custom and bespoke projects are completed within 10–12 weeks, though timing can vary depending on your design’s complexity and how we work together along the way. Your active participation—reviewing options, sharing feedback, and approving designs in a timely manner—helps keep everything moving smoothly.
Rush service may be available for collection rings only (not for custom or bespoke) depending on our studio’s current capacity.
To inquire about a rush or to communicate a hard deadline, please email hola@herafinejewelry.com before placing your order.
3. Do you work with outside stones?
Yes. We can set your stone for a $400 setting fee, provided it meets our production requirements.
You’ll also need to sign our Outside Stone Liability Waiver, a standard industry form acknowledging that while we take the utmost care, Hera can’t assume responsibility for client-provided stones during production. The waiver outlines the small inherent risks of working with outside materials and strongly recommends insurance coverage.
4. Do you offer custom engravings?
We don’t offer custom exterior engraving patterns at this time, but we do have an extensive engraving library with beautiful options to personalize your ring.
We do offer engraved inscriptions on the inside of the band; the maximum number of characters is 15.
5. Why is your logo on the inside of your rings and why does it have to stay there?
Every Hera ring is stamped with two marks: a purity stamp (e.g., 14K) and our maker’s mark, the Hera logo. This is standard in fine jewelry and serves two purposes:
1. It’s our signature—proof that your piece was made by Hera.
2. It guarantees the authenticity and purity of your metal.
Maker’s marks have been used for centuries to ensure jeweler accountability and to preserve the history of each piece—something collectors still value today.
Removing either would violate both U.S. and international hallmarking standards and compromise the authenticity of the piece, so we are unable to remove them.
6. How does shipping work?
All US orders ship complimentary via FedEx Express (3-day) in discreet packaging. Hera is listed as the sender, and every package is fully insured and requires an adult signature upon delivery.
If you’re local to Dallas, Pasadena or Greenpoint, Brooklyn, you’re welcome to pick up in person.
You can also request to have your package held at a FedEx Office or Ship Center (not a third-party shipper). Just send us the location’s address before your ring ships, and bring a photo ID that matches the name on the package when you pick it up.
7. What is a comfort fit ring?
A comfort fit band has a rounded interior so the edges of the ring don't touch your finger. It adds comfort to the ring without changing the exterior look. They can be a great idea for people who don't wear jewelry often or like the feel of most rings, or who have sensory sensitivities.
Comfort fit does not change the interior diameter of the band, so your ring size will be the same if you order a comfort fit band.
8. How do I figure out my ring size?
This is a lot more common than you might think! In my experience, most people don't have a "true" ring size that's always exactly the same. Ring size can fluctuate due to anything from eating salty food to heat and humidity; a lot of people's ring size is slightly larger in the summer, for instance. If there doesn't seem to be a happy medium, we recommend sizing your ring to fit your finger when it's the largest, and you can purchase a temporary size adjuster to make the ring smaller when your finger is smaller.
If you aren't sure how the ring should fit, it should be pretty snug - as tight as it can be without being uncomfortable or you worrying it might not come off your finger. A good rule of thumb is one second on, 2-3 seconds off. There should be a bit of twisting or wiggling to get it off. If it slides right off your hand, it's too big! You can also reach out via our contact us page to get a ring sizer in the mail or stop by our showroom to get sized.
9. Do you offer financing?
Yes, you can select 'Shop Pay' at checkout to pay in installments.
10. What should I expect at my consultation?
You can book a free consultation either via Zoom or in-person at our LA, Dallas or NYC showrooms. Our engagement ring experts will talk through any questions you have, including customizing a ring.
11. What are your sustainable diamond options?
We offer SCS certified sustainability-rated diamonds, which is the industry’s most rigorous standard for sustainability in diamonds. Our SCS certified lab-grown diamonds are fully grown with hydropower. Among other requirements such as protecting human rights and workplace safety, diamonds that achieve this certification have verified origin traceability and a net carbon zero footprint.
